This could potentially cause some trouble with firewalls requiring that data sessions originate *from* an address with source port 20 (when using non-PASV connections). I've never seen this myself though... The reason it doesn't do that is that it drops all root privileges as early as possible, so it can't create new sockets and bind them to ports in the reserved range (<1024). With the RPAD services (the rpad daemon is included in the distribution (but only builds on certains systems - Solaris 2.7 or newer (ie, systems with a working DOORS IPC mechanism)) it will contact the 'rpad' daemon (which runs as root) and will allocate, and bind (to port 20) a socket which will then be passed to Pftpd via the DOORS IPC mechanism). ====> Compressing man pages (compress-man) =========================================================================== =================================================== ===== env: 'PKG_NOTES=build_timestamp ports_top_git_hash ports_top_checkout_unclean port_git_hash port_checkout_unclean built_by' 'PKG_NOTE_build_timestamp=2025-10-02T04:39:29+0000' 'PKG_NOTE_ports_top_git_hash=a936fb9b16ba' 'PKG_NOTE_ports_top_checkout_unclean=no' 'PKG_NOTE_port_git_hash=a36cd930e200' 'PKG_NOTE_port_checkout_unclean=no' 'PKG_NOTE_built_by=poudriere-git-3.4.2' NO_DEPENDS=yes USER=root UID=0 GID=0 ===> Building packages for pftpd-1.0.3_3 ===> Building pftpd-1.0.3_3 =========================================================================== =>> Cleaning up wrkdir ===> Cleaning for pftpd-1.0.3_3 build of ftp/pftpd | pftpd-1.0.3_3 ended at Thu Oct 2 00:42:31 EDT 2025 build time: 00:03:04
